Everything you need to know about the CHE Volunteering program
CHE Volunteering is a field-based engineering programme combining technical practice, social responsibility, and community co-design in Argentina.
The program takes place in various communities across Argentina, primarily focusing on areas where technical solutions can make the most social impact.
Our cohorts typically run for several weeks during the summer and winter breaks. Please check the application page for specific cohort dates.
Engineering students, recent graduates, and individuals with a strong background in technical problem-solving and a passion for social impact are welcome to apply.
You can apply through our online portal by submitting your resume, a cover letter detailing your interest in social engineering, and completing a short technical assessment.
Applicants should have a background in engineering or a related technical field, intermediate Spanish skills (recommended), and a demonstrated interest in community development.
Deadlines vary by cohort. For the upcoming July 2026 cohort, applications close on May 15th, 2026.
We carefully select and limit each cohort to 10 participants to ensure high-quality supervision and meaningful community integration.
This is a volunteer program, so participants are not paid. There is a program fee that covers all your in-country logistics and support.
The program fee covers shared accommodation, most meals during project days, and all necessary in-country project-related transport.
A detailed packing list including recommended workwear, personal protective equipment (PPE), and casual clothing will be provided upon acceptance.
Projects vary but commonly include clean water infrastructure, renewable energy installations, sustainable agriculture systems, and structural community improvements.
Yes, all volunteers are fully supervised by experienced professional engineers throughout the entire project lifecycle.
You will gain hands-on technical practice, project management experience, cross-cultural communication skills, and expertise in community co-design methodologies.
We partner with local Argentine NGOs, community boards, and universities to ensure our projects have local buy-in and long-term sustainability.
We strictly adhere to a co-design model. We never assume we have the answers; instead, we listen to the community's needs and work alongside them to build technological solutions.
